Gaurav Kumar is the Managing Director, Capital Markets and Residential Business, CBRE India.
With over 22 years of experience in the Indian real estate industry, he has held leadership
positions in Private Equity, Consulting and Valuations and Capital Markets.
Gaurav started CBRE’s Capital Markets business in India with his colleague Nikhil Bhatia in 2011.
Since then, he has built Capital Markets into a market-leading investment banking platform,
offering end-to-end financial solutions to investors, developers and asset owners. Through his
tenure, Gaurav has led some of the marquee transactions for debt and equity, land and asset
sales in India.
Prior to joining CBRE, Gaurav was co-head of the real estate investments business of Credit Suisse
in India from 2006 to 2011, representing both balance sheet and the firm’s private equity arm.
During this period, Gaurav invested in hospitality, infrastructure, residential and office sectors.
Before joining Credit Suisse, Gaurav was heading the ‘Consulting & Valuations’ division for CBRE
till 2006. He led strategic advisory mandates for several landmark projects in India including IT
Parks, Retail Malls, Townships, Hotel, and SEZs. Gaurav was instrumental in closing significant
FDI transactions in the post-liberalization era ~ $ 250 mn of funded deals in townships, IT Parks
and Residential developments.
Gaurav is a Member of Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS). He was awarded the ‘Asia
Circle of Excellence Award’ for Excellence in Capital Markets in 2016. Gaurav became the
youngest business head at CBRE India when he took over as the Head of Consulting and Valuations
business at the age of 24.
Gaurav holds an MBA degree from International Management Institute (I.M.I) in Marketing and
Finance. He completed his schooling from St Columba’s School, New Delhi.
